Where do my photos go?
Two places, and only one of them is automatic.
- The app's own storage. Every photo you take is saved here first. This is what the app's gallery view shows you, and it is private to the app.
- Your phone's gallery. A copy goes here only when you ask for it: tap "Save to gallery" on a photo, or switch on "Save every shot to your gallery too" in settings. That switch is off to begin with. The copy lands in an album named
RetroCam.
How do I get my photos out of the app?
Open a photo and tap "Save to gallery", or turn on "Save every shot to your gallery too" in settings and shoot. Either way the copy shows up in your phone's gallery, in the RetroCam album, where every other app can see it.
What's the difference between "Auto-save" and "Save every shot to your gallery too"?
They sound alike and they are not the same switch.
- "Auto-save" (on by default) only skips the confirmation step after you shoot — the photo is kept without asking you to tap the tick.
- "Save every shot to your gallery too" (off by default) additionally writes a copy into your phone's gallery, as described above.
I deleted the app. Did I lose my photos?
The copies in the app's own storage went with it — that is what deleting an app does. The copies you had saved to your phone's gallery are still there: from the moment they were written, they belong to your gallery, not to the app. So before deleting the app, save anything you want to keep.
Why is there no location on the copy in my gallery?
Check "Strip location from the gallery copy" in settings. With it on, the app removes the GPS coordinates from the copy it writes into your gallery, and keeps them only on the copy inside the app. It affects the gallery copy only — the address shown on a photo inside the app is unaffected.
I edited a photo, but my gallery copy did not change.
The app does not rewrite a copy you already exported when you edit or re-crop a photo — editing touches the app's own copy. Save it to your gallery again and the app updates that same copy rather than adding a second one.
I shot a photo and tapped discard. Does anything stay in my gallery?
No. Discarding a shot you just took withdraws the copy the app had written into your gallery.
What do the permission prompts mean?

Declining the camera or the location permission is not fatal: without location, photos simply carry no GPS coordinates. If saving to your gallery fails, that is usually the photo-library permission — the app will say "Couldn't save to your gallery — check photo access in system settings".
Do I need an account or an internet connection?
Neither. There is no sign-up and no login, and the app makes no network requests of its own — the Android build does not even declare the INTERNET permission. It works in aeroplane mode.
Does it cost anything?
This version is free, and every film and frame in it is included.

iOS 15 or later, and Android 7.0 or later.

我的照片存在哪？

怎么把照片拿出来？
打开一张照片，点「保存到系统相册」；或者在设置里打开「每张都自动存进系统相册」再拍。 两条路都会让那一份出现在手机相册的 RetroCam 相册里，其它应用也就都能看到它了。
「自动保存」和「每张都自动存进系统相册」有什么区别？
名字像，但不是同一个开关。
- 「自动保存」（默认开）只是省掉拍完那一步确认 —— 不再让你点一下对勾，直接收下。
- 「每张都自动存进系统相册」（默认关）才是额外往手机的系统相册里写一份，如上所述。
我把 App 删了，照片是不是没了？
App 自己目录里的那份跟着一起没了 —— 删 App 就是这个意思。 但你先前保存到手机相册里的那些还在：从写进去那一刻起，它们属于你的相册，不属于 App。 所以删 App 之前，把想留的先存进系统相册。
为什么相册里那一份没有位置？
看一下设置里的「相册副本不含位置」。开着的话，App 会把写进系统相册的那一份里的经纬度剥掉， 坐标只留在 App 内的那一份上。它只作用于相册那一份 —— App 里照片上显示的地址不受影响。
我编辑了照片，可相册里那份没变。
你编辑或重新裁切时，App 不会去改写你已经导出的那份 —— 编辑动的是 App 内的那一份。 再点一次「保存到系统相册」，App 会更新同一个相册条目，而不是存成两张。
拍完点了「丢弃」，相册里会留下东西吗？
不会。丢弃刚拍的那一张时，App 会把已经写进系统相册的那一份一并撤下。
那些权限申请是干什么的？
